<p>Many STARS (celebrities, artists, and famous figures) will be also participating in the half marathon as part of a charity group that is motivating the STARS to run.</p>
<p>Fortunately, since he is an elite and VIP athlete he will be provided limo service from the race finish line to the after race celebration and awards.</p>
<p>He is going to be running down “Hollywood’s World Famous walk of fame” as thousands of spectators line the course.</p>
<p>Coach Juan will be arriving in Hollywood early Friday morning, check into the hotel and off to the race expo to pick up his Elite Bib Number. After the race expo he is thinking of relaxing at a near-by beach.</p>

<p>“Main goal for this half marathon is to go in there and mix it up. Im going to race hard but also enjoy myself…unlike a 5k (which I love) there is more time in a half marathon so you can truly have fun for a longer period of time without feeling like the race end is near. Its truly fun to enjoy the scenery as it passes by quite quickly and before you know it, your at the finish like pushing as hard as you can. I am truly excited”.</p>

<p>Previewing the course truly made a difference in how well we knew the course as well as how well we did on race day, with many of our runners racing to a personal best. Also, we are proud of your first-timers, who have never run a 5k race before. The weather was not ideal, it was COLD!!! The course was hilly and lots of turns&#8230;but we trained well and raced even better.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Dublin Boot Camp for Men has truly been a huge part of Jon&#8217;s preparation for Tough Mudder and getting fit. In addition to feelling like he is in the best shape of his life (despite still feeling solid pain during workouts) he has lost 14 pounds of fat and has gained lots of muscle and muscle mass in the process. As an ex-college star football player, Jon truly shines when we do the pro agility drill (a cone-to-cone sprint) because the pro agility is one of the best drills to test power, speed, and agility.</p>
<p>so what is Tough Mudder? Its a 12mile obstacle course that tests your strength, stamina, mental toughness, and camaraderie as its a team relay.</p>

<p>The FIT Potato running team gathered around the Dublin civic center to go a run though Dublin&#8217;s Shamrock 5k course that will be run this week on Sunday. Our running team is training for the 5k as well as 10k, half marathon, and marathon. We are a commited group and we run together often on the weekends.</p>

<p>As they previewed the course, Coach Francisco and Coach Juan discussed strategy and race advice. &#8220;it was fun to preview the course as a team and I feel everyone learned a lot, and that will translate into the race as faster times and an overall better race experience&#8221;, said Coach Francisco.</p>

<p><strong>Should you stretch before or after warming up? Is stretching a warm up?</strong></p>
<p>The truth is that stretching before warming up decreases strength and power because after stretching your muscles contract at a slower rate. We simply discourage stretching before exercising or running because no evidence has been shown that stretching improves running or getting faster. A study done by USA Track and Field found that stretching before exercise showed any effect or benefit in running or exercising.</p>
<p>Make sure you warm up before you stretch because that way your muscles are at least warm and are more agile. <p>Here are some great and very helpful running tips and advice:</p>
<p>1.     <strong>Use Good Shoes</strong>- You have to have shoes that work for you, once you find the shoe that works for you, stick with it. All foot types (high arch, low arch, mid-high arch, flat foot) have different type of shoes that go best with each. So please ask The FIT Potato Running Coach, Dublin Personal Trainer Francisco Gomez if you need help getting a good pair of shoes.</p>
<p>2.     <strong>Double Tie those shoes</strong>-shoes that come undone are no fun and can cause an injury.</p>
<p>3.     <strong>Barefoot running</strong>-It works some a few but not for most so please be careful and use barefoot shoes or even running barefoot with caution. Recently, more running related injuries are caused by attempting to run barefoot.</p>
<p>4.     <strong>Listen to your body</strong>- the human body is an amazing machine, but it too needs its rest so be careful when pushing too hard for too long. The best way to train and get the best benefits is to run hard one day and follow it with an easy day.</p>
<p>5.     <strong>Fast running</strong>- when it is time to run fast, challenge yourself and run hard but do not run outside of your limits because you risk injury.</p>
<p>6.     <strong>Running slow</strong>- its only fair if we talk about running slow as well, when its time to run slow, do it. Do NOT run your slow days too fast because it prevents proper recovery, and recovery is the key to better and faster running. If you’re planning to run a half marathon or a long run, do it at a slower pace than your “usual daily out the door” runs.</p>

<p>7.     <strong>Run your own pace</strong>- every runner is different and we all have our strengths and we are all good at different things but most importantly we are all at different fitness level. <p>We all know how hard it is to lose weight or try and reach our fitness goals, so why not make it easier by rewarding yourself…?</p>
<p>Rewarding yourself can be quite simple, perhaps a dinner out on the town, buying yourself a pair of new shoes, perhaps some new jewelry, and lastly it can be as simple as getting yourself something you have been wanting for a while but could not find the reason why to get it.</p>
<p>Recently, an article about this lady that lost 100+ pounds credited reaching her weight loss goals by the use of rewarding herself. She thought 100+ pounds was way too much for my mind to think about so she thought why don’t I just get myself something for my efforts. She rewarded herself with shoes.</p>
<p>Coach Gomez, “I actually buy myself some new pair of running shoes when I accomplish a goal or I treat myself to dinner and a movie”.</p>
<p>So….why not reward yourself for all your hard work? The happier you make yourself with what your doing the easier and more likely you are to continue on that good path toward surpassing your goals.</p>
